History of project
We are a small practice, previously practising from 4 Abbeystead Road, Liverpool 15. The premises, which had served a purpose over the years for
providing primary care. However the premises were clearly unsuited for providing the range of services that are expected of any modern Primary
Care Provider. Dr. Kothari and later Dr Artioukh undertook the project of developing a new Medical Centre in the area. With the cooperation of the
Liverpool Family Health Services Association explored the possibility of developing a new purpose built premises in 1992. After exploring a range of
options, the site adjacent to Chelwood and District Workers Association (CADWA) appeared to be the best option. This land, originally belonging
to Lord Cranbourne, was leased to CADWA, with a covenant over it - that it could only be used for the community.
Over the years, numerous organizations and people have been vital in the development of the project.
Mr. Tom Penn of the Liverpool FHSA and later, Leoni Beavers have been vital to keep the project going.
The Trustees of the Childwall Open Spaces Trust and the Members of the Chelwood and District Workers Association have been of great assistance.
This is a Private Finance Initiative, with the developers and landlords being Castlemead Homes.
The premises are constructed with the aim of looking at the future developments in Primary Care and ample space exists to develop more services.
We have the Consultation suites, the Counselling suite, the Treatment rooms and Education suites upstairs.
Health and Safety issues have been kept in mind and we provide full disabled access.
